Alhamdulillahi Rabbil 'Alameaen was salaatu wa salaam 'alaa 'ibaadinil lathistafaa Wa 'alaa Aalihi wa Sahbihi wa sallim
Allahu ta ‘ala has mentioned that certain days are auspicious and the Holy Last Messenger Prophet Muhammad Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim observed certain days with fasting etc. because of the auspiciousness of those days as certain historical events happening on those days.
The basis of all our actions are The Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of Sayyidinaa Muhammad Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim. To understand clearly we need to understand the Sunnah. The Sunnah is divided into three categories;
1. Qawli [what was said or speech]
2. Fa’ali [what was done or actions]
3. Taqriri [what others did that was not objected to]
These three categories are also the three categories of hadith
We are reminded by Allahu ta ‘ala to remember the favors [ni’mah] bestowed us”
And hold fast, all together, by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves; and remember with gratitude Allah's favor on you; for ye were enemies and He joined your hearts in love, so that by His Grace, ye became brethren; and ye were on the brink of the pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus doth Allah make His Signs clear to you: That ye may be guided. 3:103
Allahu ta ‘ala is instructing us to recount those favors. When the holy Prophet Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim made hijra to Madinah he observed the bani Israil [jews] fasting on the tenth of Muharram. He had the sahaaba enquire why they were fasting on that particular day. He was informed that they were fasting on that day because they had been led out of captivity by Sayyidina Musa ‘alaihi salaam on the tenth of Muharram and because of the auspicious nature of that day they were fasting. This was indeed a favor from Allahu ta ‘ala. Our beloved Prophet Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa salliminformed the companions to fast on the ninth and tenth of Muharram in observance of this auspicious day. He said that we are more worth of Sayyidina Musa than the jews were. This fast became an established Sunnah of the Holy Last Messenger Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim.
Sheikh Jalaluddin As Suyuti in “Al Hawl lil Fataawa” mentions that this is one of the precedence’s for commemorating the day Allah sent the mercy to all the worlds, not just mercy to Bani Israeel. The day Allahu ta ‘ala sent Rahmatulil ‘Alameen as a mercy to all of creation is much more auspicious than the day Bani Israeel was shown mercy by being delivered and saved from the oppression of Pharaoh. Maulana Jalaluddin and the Scholars of Islamic Jurisprudence [Fiqh] mention that if there is no supposed clear evidence that a thing was not done, we look for evidence that something similar [precedence] to that action was done.

THE PERMISSIBILITY OF PROCLAIMING YA RASOOLULLAH
"Anwaarul Intibah Fi Hallil Nidaa Ya Rasoolallah"
by
A'LA HAZRAT, IMAM-E-AHLE SUNNAT, ASH SHAH IMAM AHMED RAZA BAREILVI AL-QADERI (RADI ALLAHU ANHU)
AN ISLAMIC JUDICIAL QUERY
QUESTION: What is the ruling of the Ulema of Islam on the following matter:
Zaid, who is a Muslim and believes in Almighty Allah and the Prophethood of his beloved Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), recites after every Salaah and at other times, the following verses:As Salaatu Was Salaamu Alaika Ya Rasoolullah - "Peace and Blessings upon you, O Messenger of Allah."Or As Alukash Shafaa'atu Ya Rasoolullah - "I seek from you Shafaa'at (Intercession), O Messenger of Allah."
I ask the learned Scholars of Islam:
(1) Are such calls to the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) permitted in Islam?
(2) What is the ruling of the Learned Scholars concerning individuals who refer to those who call to the Prophets and Saints as Kaafirs and Mushriks?
Please enlighten us on this. We pray that you enjoy the mercy of Allah on the Day of Judgement. Aameen.
ANSWER:
Alhamudullilahi wa Kafaa Was Salaatu Was Salaamu alaa Habeebihil Mustafa wa Aalihi Wa Ashaabihi Oolis Sidqi Was Safaa
The utterance of the above words are indeed permitted and no person other than those who are misled would argue with it. For reference on this matter, we shall consult the following great Jurists of Islam and their books:-
A. "Shifa-us-Siqaam", by Imaam Taqi'udeen Abul Hasan Subki (radi Allahu anhu),
B. "Mawaahibbe Ladunnia", by Imaam Ahmed Qastalaani (radi Allahu anhu), being the Sharah (Commentary) of Sahih-ul-Bukhari,
C. "Sharah of the Muwaahibbe Laddunnia", by Allama Zarqaani (radi Allahu anhu),
D. "Mutaali-ul-Mussarraat" by Imaam Allama Faasi (radi Allahu anhu),
E. "Sharah of Mishkaat", by Allama Mulla Ali Qaari (radi Allahu anhu),
E. "Ashatul Lamaat", including the books, "Jazbul Quloob" and "Madaarijun Nubuwat", by Shaikh Muhaqqiq Allama Abdul Haq Muhaddis Dehlwi (radi Allahu anhu),
G. "Afdalul Qur'a", which is the "Sharah of Ummul Qur'a" by Imaam ibn Hajar Makki (radi Allahu anhu).
I will now quote a Hadith, proving that it is permissible to utter the above mentioned words. This Hadith has been certified authentic by the following great Scholars of Islam:-
A. Imaam Nisaai (radi Allahu anhu),
B. Imaam Tirmidhi (radi Allahu anhu),
C. Imaam ibn Maaja (radi Allahu anhu),
D. Imaam Haakim (radi Allahu anhu),
E. Imaam Baihaqi (radi Allahu anhu),

G. Imaam Abul Qasim Tabraani (radi Allahu anhu),
H. Imaam Manzari (radi Allahu anhu),
I. Imaam Muslim (radi Allahu anhu),
J. Imaam Bukhari (radi Allahu anhu).
(1) All the above mentioned Scholars of Ahadith, narrate on the authority of Hazrat Uthman bin Haneef (radi Allahu anhu), that a Sahabi who was blind by birth was taught a special Du'a by the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), which he was to recite after every Salaah.
The Du'a is as follows: Allahumma Inni As Aluka Wa Ata Wajjahu Ilaika Binabiyika Muhammadin Nabiyyir rahmati Ya Muhammadu Inni Ata Wajjahu Bika ila Rabbi Fi Haajati haazihi lituqda li. Allahumma Fashaf'fi'u Fiya. "O Allah, I ask from you, and turn towards you through the Wasila (Medium) of Your Nabi Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), who is indeed a Prophet of Mercy. O Muhammad, with your Wasila (Medium) I turn towards Allah for my need so that it may be bestowed. O Allah, accept the Prophet's intercession for me."
THE SHARIAHS' PERMISSIBILITY OF SALAWAT AND SALAAM AND RELATED ISSUES
By Ismail Ebrahim
PREFACE
Nahmadahu wa nu’salli a’la Rasoolihil Kareem
The noble action of the recitation of the Salawaat and Salaam, be it in whatever language, and in the manner of standing with utmost reverence, is not confined to the Ahle Sunnah from amongst the Indo-Pak region only, but can be traced to almost every country from Africa to the remote regions of the far North and spreading across from Asia to the heart of America.
None of the authentic Kitaab written by the righteous scholars of the Ahle Sunnah, who are in the majority, have ever condemned this practice of the recitation and the standing and indeed no objection can be found either in the Glorious Qur’aan or the Ahadith. However, there are still a minority group who severely condemn this practice and have labeled this very practice as Shirk, Bid’at and Haraam.
A book of this nature was very much needed and, Alhamdulillah, Brother Ismail Ebrahim, a university student, has researched this topic extensively using a number of authentic Kitaabs, and has answered every objection and misconception, thus proving the permissibility of standing and reciting the Salawaat and Salaam. I have also had the privilege of reading through the manuscript and have found all the sources to be exact.
May Almighty Allah, through the Wasila of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), grant Brother Ismail His special Favors and assist him in upholding the pristine teachings of the Ahle Sunnah Wa Jamaat at a time when false ideologies are misleading the Ummah from the Straight Path. Aameen.
It is also my fervent Du’a that the youth read this book with the light of Imaan and the objectivity that it deserves so that the practice of standing and reciting the Salawaat and Salaam continues to grow and the love of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) becomes a foundation of their beliefs. Aameen.

1) INTRODUCTION
This publication is intended to settle any controversy surrounding the issue of reciting Salawat (Durood) and Salaam [Blessings and Salutations] upon the Holy Prophet (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) :
(A) In a standing position (Qiyaam),
(B) Using terms of addressing Rasoolullah (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) directly e.g.. Ya Nabi Salaam 'Alaika !, and
(c) With the thought in mind that Rasoolullah (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) is Haazir and Naazir.
Words such as Shirk and Bid'a have been attributed to this blessed practice by those who are ignorant of the blessings of reciting Salawat and Salaam and of the true meanings of the words Shirk and Bid'a, thereby leaving certain sectors in the community in a state of utter confusion. These students of the 14th Islamic Century, in their haste to pronounce this noble act as a bid'a, have even ignored the opinion of their own spiritual luminaries, who practiced and advocated this noble act.
The permissibility of reciting Salawat and Salaam is one of the many beliefs which distinguishes the Ahle-Sunnah Wal Jama'at from the other sects of Baatil (Deviation).
It is our intention to remove the stigma of Bid'a and Shirk attributed to this noble practice by presenting documented proof from the Qur'aan, Sunnah and the great Islamic scholars of the Hijaaz (Arabia), Misr (Egypt), Shaam (Syria) and Indo-Paksubcontinent.
We have systematically categorized the baseless arguments that have arisen over the years into separate chapters. We, thereafter, answered each argument thereby proving once and for all the permissibility of reciting Salawat and Salaam from Qur'aan, Hadith and by citing examples from books written by the scholars of Deoband.
You are therefore urged to read this book with an open mind and decide for yourself.
