Nahmaduhu wa Nusalli ‘alaa Rasulihil Kareem wa ‘alaa Aalihi wa Sahbihi ‘ajma’een
Concerning the Permissibility of Cursing Yazid bin Muawiyya:
Opinions of Ahl as Sunni Scholars

A refutation of the Yazidi[i] [modern day supporters of Yazid] claim that it is not permissible to curse Yazid
and that he is Amir ul Mu’mineen
Al-Hakim has recorded a tradition of the Holy Prophet through Ibne Abbas. The Prophet (Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim) remarked: “The stars are security for the people of the earth against drowning (when at sea) and Ahle Bayt are a security to the people of the earth against discord. And if any tribe or group opposes my Ahlul Bayt it will itself become fraught with discord and become a party to Iblis.” [Ihya al Mayyit bi Fadhaail Ahlul Bayt Shaykh Jalaaluddin as Suyuti Rahmatullahi ‘alaihi]
Introduction:
This article was originally posted on the al-Adaab blog in December of 2009 in response to those who honor and show reverence to Yazid bin Muawiya. Two years later almost to the day we repost it. Those who claim that Yazid was the rightful Amirul Mu’mineen are by extension saying that Sayyidinaa Imam Hussain ibn ‘Ali ‘alaihi salaam the beloved grandson of the Holy Last Messenger Sall Allahu 'alaihi wa aalihi wa sallim was and is a murtadh [renegade] wa Iyyadhu Billah! They claim that since he opposed the oppressive rule of Yazid that he rebelled against the lawful authority. Their premise is that under no circumstance can a Muslim stand up against the tyranny and oppression of a so-called Muslim ruler. Their claim is that it doesn’t matter what dhulm or oppression the ruler rains down upon the heads of the people.
Ironically, modern day Yazidi rulers who make this very claim and have paid Mufti’s on the payroll who support their claim, rush to sanction other despotic and oppressive regimes under the pretext that the people of those countries have the right to overthrow despotic regimes, just not their regimes. Subhan Allah!
Each year we come together and commemorate the Shahadat of al Imam Hussain ‘alaihi salaam. We remember the stand he took against oppressive and un-Islamic rule. Yet many of us fear taking a strong stand on true Islamic principles for fear of being labeled Shia. True love of Imam Hussain and Ahl ul Bayt Ridhwan Allahu 'alaihim aj ma'een is manifest in our unwavering support for Imam Hussain and Ahl ul Bayt Muhammadi Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa ‘Aalihi wa sallim.
Our Muslim youth are being misguided on this issue by some of the elder Ahl As Sunnah Shuyukh who on the one hand teach that love of Imam Hussain ‘alaihi salaam and Ahlul Bayt is a requirement of Imam. On the other hand some of our Ahl As Sunnah Shuyukh are teaching that it is jaiz [permissible] to honor tyrants and evil doers such as Yazid bin Muawiyya by praying that Allahu ta ‘ala be pleased with him [saying radhi Allahu ‘anhu for him] and by calling him “Amir ul Mu’mineen”. This much we expect from the Yazidi’s from among the Pseudo-Salafiyya and the like. We never expected this from Ahl As Sunnah Shuyukh. Ahl as Sunnah ‘Ulama who dare to mention the atrocities of Yazid, or recount the words of Imam Hussain on the battle field of Kerbala or Sayyida Zaynab's ‘alaihi salaam courageous rebuke of Yazid in the court of Yazid, are censured not only by Yazidi’s but also by Ahl as Sunnah ‘Ulama. We too except to be censured, but we must stand up for the truth.
We pray that we are raised in the company of those we love honor and respect. Our love, honor and respect lies with Sayyidinaa Rasuli Akram, Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim, Imam Hussain and Ahlul Bayt ‘alaihimus salaam and the Khulafa who took the right way Ridhwan Allahu ta’ala ‘alaihi aj’maeen. We pray that Allahu ta ‘ala show those who love, honor and respect Yazid the error of their ways, as on Yawmul Qiyaamah we will be raised in the company of those whom we love.
Al-Hakim in his history and Daylami has also related from Abu Sa’eed that the Holy Prophet (Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim.) said: “Allah will protect the life and the faith of those who regard three things and Allah will not help those who disregard three things (that is he will be in loss in this life as well as the hereafter):
(1) Respect for Islam.
(2) Respect for Prophet of Islam (Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim).
(3) And respect for the household of Prophet (Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim) i.e. Ahlul Bayt (Ridhwaan Allahu ta ‘ala alaihim ajma’een) [Ihya al Mayyit bi Fadhaail Ahlul Bayt Shaykh Jalaaluddin as Suyuti Rahmatullahi ‘alaihi]

Friday, 13 Muharram 1433 Amazing Incidents after the Martyrdom of
Sayyiduna Imam Hussain ‘Alaihi Salaam

Extracted with slight editing from:
Aaina-e-Qiyamat (The mirror unto the day of Reckoning)
by Ustaz-e-Zaman Mawlana Hasan Rida al-Qadiri Alaihir raHmah
It is recorded that when this blessed head arrived before the unclean Yazeed, he began to touch it with his cane. At that moment, a Christian ambassador from Rome was also present. When he saw this, he remarked surprisingly,
“In a church on one of our islands, there a hoof which is said to belong to Nabi Esa’s donkey. Every year, people come from far and wide to see this hoof and also take oaths through it. We also respect it as you people respect the Kaba. However, what have you done with the son of your Prophet Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim? I bear witness that you people are indeed misguided.”
Another Jew remarked that,
“There were seventy generations which separated me from Nabi Daud (as family) and yet, the Jews still respected me. And yet, you people have yourselves killed the son of the Holy Last Messenger Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim.”
In the evening, this caravan travelled onwards towards Madina Sharif. On arrival in Madina Sharif, it brought with it a scene from Qiyamat. Every house was filled with grief and sadness.
It is said that immediately after the martyrdom of Imam Hussain ‘Alaihi Salaam, blood actually rained down from the sky. A person called Nasra Azdayah admits that,
“When we awoke in the morning, every container in the house was filled with blood. The sky was so dark during the day that even the stars could be seen. Whatever stone was turned in Syria, below it was blood.”
In one narration it is stated that
“This darkness in the sky lasted for nearly seven days and the walls seemed like it was covered by red colour similar to a flame. It seemed like there was a continuous storm among the stars and they were also smashing against each other.”
Abu Sa'eed says that
“Whatever stone was overturned in the world, below it was fresh blood. The sky rained blood. In the lands of Khurasan, Kufa and Syria, the houses and walls were dripping with blood.”
The Ulama declare that this redness which is seen during the dawn was never present before the actual Shahaadat. This redness remained in the corner of the sky, then become apparent everywhere.
The frightful end of those who took part in the Martyrdom of Imam Hussain ‘Alaihi Salaam

Sayyida Zaahira Tayyiba Taahira
Fatimah az-Zahra
Radhi Allahu ta ‘ala anha

Taken from:
Gateway to Heaven (A Concise Manual for Muslim Sisters)
by Sayyid Shah Aal-e-Rasool Nazmi al-Husaini al-Qadiri Barakati Marehrawi
Sayyidah Fatimah az-Zahra Radhi Allahu ta ‘ala anha was the fourth daughter of the Holy Prophet Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim and Sayyidah Khadija Radhi Allahu ta ‘ala anha. "Zahra" (having gleaming and luminous face), "Batool" (aloof from the worldly pleasures) are "Tahira" (chaste and modest) are among her exalted titles.
She was an unusually sensitive child of her age. When she was five, she heard that her father had become the Apostle [1] of Allah Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim. Her mother Sayyidah Khadija Radhi Allahu ta ‘ala anha explained to her what the responsibilities of a Prophet are. Sayyidah Fatimah Radhi Allahu ta ‘ala anha became more closely attached to her father and felt a deep and abiding love for him. She used to accompany him through the narrow streets of Makkatul Mukarrama, visiting the Ka’bah or attending the secret meetings of the early Muslims who had embraced Islam and pledged allegiance to her father.
Once, she accompanied her father to the Masjid al-Haraam. Sayyiduna Rasoolullah Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim began to pray in front of the Ka’bah. A group of Quraysh chiefs gathered around the Holy Prophet Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim. Uqbah bin Abi Mu’ayt brought the entrails of a slaughtered animal and threw it on the shoulders of the Beloved Habeeb Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim. Sayyidah Fatimah Radhi Allahu ta ‘ala anha, a ten year old girl, went up to her father and removed the filth. Then, in a firm and angry voice she lashed out against Abu Jahl and his colleagues. They could not utter a single word.
After the wisal of her mother, Sayyidah Khadija Radhi Allahu ta ‘ala anha, she felt that she had to give even greater support to her father. She devoted herself to looking after his needs. She was so engrossed in her father’s service that people started calling her “Umm Abiha”, the mother of her father. The Holy Prophet Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim had a special love for Sayyidah Fatimah Radhi Allahu ta ‘ala anha.
Sayyiduna Miswar bin Makhramah Radhi Allahu ta ‘ala anha reported that the Holy Prophet Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim said:
فاطمة بضعة منى ، فمن أغضبها أغضبنى
“My daughter is part of me. He who disturbs her in fact disturbs me and he who offends her offends me.” [Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 3767]
