The Prophet’s [Sall Allahu 'alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallim] Parents Are Saved

Imam Jalaluddin al-Suyuti

Translated by Shaykh Gibril Fouad Haddad

Released by www.marifah.net 1428 H

Reprinted with permission from www.marifah.net

This writing concerns the question of the ruling (hukm) that the father and mother of The Prophet (Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim) are (believed to be) saved and not in Hellfire. This has been declared by the majority of the scholars, and in reaching that declaration they have several methods (masalik).

FIRST

His parents died before he was sent as Prophet, and there is no punishment for them as “We never punish until We send a messenger (and they reject him)” (17:15). Our Ash`ari Imams of those in kalam, usul, and Shafi`i fiqh agree on the statement that one who dies while da’wa has not reached him, dies saved. This has been defined by Imam Shafi`i . . . and some of the fuqaha’ have explained that the reason is that that person is on fitra (primordial disposition), and has not stubbornly refused nor rejected any Messenger.

That is the position of our Shaykh, Shaykh al-Islam Sharafuddin al-Munawi, as I received it. He was once asked whether the Prophet’s father was in the fire and he groaned loudly at the questioner. The latter insisted: “Is his Islam established?” and he answered that he died in fitra and quoted the verse.

It is the position of Ahl al-Sunnah and it was opposed by the Mu`tazila and those who follow them among those who say that one is condemned because Allah is known rationally. It is also the position of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Hajar al-’Asqalani who said, The (proper) conjecture (zann) concerning his parents, meaning also all those who died before his Messengership, is that they shall obey (his call) at the time of their examination (in the grave), as a gift (from Allah) to please him.

This method is based on the following sources:

[Evidence from the Qur’an]

• The aforementioned verse. (17:15)

• The verse, “Your Lord does not unjustly (bi zulm) destroy the townships while their people are unconscious (of the wrong they do)” (6:131). Al-Zarkashi adduced it to illustrate the rule (qa`ida) that one thanks Allah through hearing (about Him), not through rational induction.

• The verse, “Otherwise . . . they might say, Our Lord! Why senteth Thou no messenger unto us, that we might have followed Thy revelations and be among the believers?” (28:47) Adduced by Zarkashi and Ibn Abi Hatim in their tafsirs. The latter adds the Hadith, “Those who die in fitra will say, My Lord, no book nor messenger reached me, and he recited his verse.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

• The verse, “And if We had destroyed them with some punishment before it [your coming], they would assuredly have said: Our Lord! If only Thou hadst sent unto us a messenger, so that we might have followed . . .” (20:134)

• “And never did thy Lord destroy the townships, till He had raised up in their mother-town a Messenger reciting unto them Our revelations. And never did We destroy the townships unless the folks thereof were evil-doers” (28:59). Ibn Abi Hatim quotes Ibn `Abbas’s and Qatada’s explanations that it refers to the people of Mecca, who were condemned only after The Prophet (Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim) was sent to them and they denied him.

• “Lest ye should say, the Scripture was only revealed to two sects before us, and we in sooth were unaware of what they read” (6:156).

• “And We destroyed no townships but it had its warners for reminder, for We never were oppressors” (26:208-209). `Abd ibn Hamid, Ibn al-Mundhir, and Ibn Abi Hatim quote Qatada in their tafsirs to the effect that revelation, proof, and exhortation must precede condemnation.

• “And they cry for help there, (saying), Our Lord! Release us; we will do right, not (the wrong) that we used to do. Did not We grant you a life long enough for him who reflected to reflect therein? And the warner came unto you” (35:37). The commentators said, “The warner is the Prophet.”

Keeping the Company of the Pious People PDF Print E-mail
Written by Muhammad Sa'id Hunafa Qadri

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim

Nahmaduhu wa Nusalli ‘alaa Rasulihil Kareem,

wa ‘alaa Aalihi wa Sahbihi wa Awliyaaihi ajma’een.

farsi12

Allahu ta ‘ala has commanded us to keep the company of pious people, to visit them to learn from them, to benefit from them and to do benefit [help] to them.  Our salvation lies in obeying the commands of Allahu ta ‘ala and His Beloved Sayyidinaa wa Mawlaana Muhammad Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim.

Allahu ta ‘ala says:

And keep thy soul content with those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His Face; and let not thine eyes pass beyond them, seeking the pomp and glitter of this Life; nor obey any whose heart We have permitted to neglect Our Dhikr [remembrance], one who follows his own desires, whose case has gone beyond all bounds. Suratul Kahf, 28th Ayah.

The circumstances behind the sending down of this ayah are as follows;

Sayyidinaa Salman al-Farisi Radhi Allahu anhu who said: “Those whose hearts were to be reconciled (al-mu'allafati qulubuhum) – were 'Uyaynah ibn Hisn, al-Aqra' ibn Habis and their families – who came to the Messenger of Allah, Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim, and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, if only you could sit at the front of the assembly and remove these people - meaning: Salman al-Farisi, Abu Dharr al-Ghifari and other poor Muslims - and their smelly outer garments - because the only thing they had on them were these woolen outer garments - from us, then we could sit with you, talk to you and learn from you!' [1]

As a response, Allah, exalted is He, revealed (And recite that which hath been revealed unto thee of the Scripture of thy Lord. There is none who can change His words, and thou wilt find no refuge beside Him. Restrain thyself along with those who cry unto their Lord at morn and evening, seeking His Countenance) [18:27-28] up to His words (Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers Fire...) [18:29], threatening them with hell.

The Prophet, Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim, stood up and went looking for them. He found them at the back of the masjid making dhikr of Allah, exalted is He. He said: 'Praise be to Allah Who did not take away my soul until He commanded me to content myself with men of my community. It is with you that I live and with you that I die' ”. (…and obey not him whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance…) [18:28]. [Asbaabun Nuzul al Wahidi]

Allahu ta ‘ala mentions in Suratul Kahf the journey of Sayyidinaa Musa ‘alaihi salaam in search of knowledge:

Behold, Sayyidinaa Musa said to his attendant, "I will not give up until I reach the junction of the two seas or (until) I spend years and years in travel." Suratul Kahf 60th ayah.

Imam Jalaaluddin Suyuti Rahmatullahi ‘alaihi mentions in “Tafsir Jalalayn” That the attendant of Sayyidinaa Musa  alaihi salaam, Yusha bin Nun used to follow him around serve him and learn from him as a student, keeping his company.  This is the attendant who accompanied Sayyidinaa Musa on his journey to Meet Shaykh Khidhr ‘alaihi salaam.

“And, mention, when Sayyidinaa Musa , son of Amram (‘Imrān), said to his attendant, Joshua son of Nun (Yūsha‘ bin Nūn), who used to follow him around, serve him and acquire knowledge from him, ‘I will not give up, I will not stop journeying, until I have reached the juncture of the two seas — the point where the Byzantine sea and the Persian sea meet, beyond the east, — though I march on for ages’, for a very long time before reaching it, if it be far.” [Tafsir Jalaalayn]

Wahhabi Mawlids[Mehrajaan] PDF Print E-mail

  Wahhabi Mawlids [Mehrajaan]

It is widely believed that Wahhabi/"Salafi" are against the idea of holding celebrations of Mawlid. But that's not true. They celebrate not one, but many Mawlids known and called by then Festivals [mehrajaan]. Here are some of the Wahhabi/"Salafi" Mawlids we have witnessed.

1- Mawlid of Shaykh Muhammad ibn `Abd al-Wahhab, Shaykh-an-Najdi (Also, the title which was given to Shaytan), Shaykh al-Islam of "Salafis"/Wahhabis, and Imam of the Two Cities (Riyad and Dar`iyya):

Every year at the anniversary date of Muhammad ibn `Abd al-Wahhab's death, a great feast is held at the Ibn Sa`ud University in Riyad (in Najd) at which time they praise the unparalleled magnificence of their beloved religious leader, listing his qualities and reciting new poetry about his greatness. All over the world, their embassies also fulfill this important communal obligation (fard kifaya). This is NOT `ibada, of course.

2- Mawlid of the State, known as National Day[1]:

This Mawlid, similar to Independence Day, Flag Day, and Army Day, is  celebrated every year in the country with international gala festivities, fanfare, parades, army reviews, podiums and thrones, and also, of course, new poems of praise and Madih recitations for the State founders and current rulers, all at colossal cost, but whatever means leads to fulfilling an obligation (fard), is itself an obligation. Of course this is NOT `ibada.

3- Mawlid of the Nation's Century:

This was a gigantic and truly new Mawlid, the like of which was never seen before. Last year we all witnessed the great celebrations whose main slogan was "100 years KSA" to commemorate one century of freedom from the innovated Khilafa and the establishment of the Sunni Kingdom. On this occasion thousands of shiny and colorful lights, new constructions, inventive and tasteful decorations, posters, banners, placards, and other graphic art productions were displayed in public places and broadcast over the media with orchestral music, poems, and commentary of self-praise and glorification that filled the heart with warmth, love of dunya, and national pride. All Mawlids should be like this! (Needless to say, this is NOT `ibada.)

INTRODUCTION

Al Hamdulillahi Rabbil 'Aalameen, Was Salaatu Was Salaamu 'Alaa Sayyidil Mursaleen, Sayyidinaa Wa Shafee-e-naa Wa Nabiyy-e-naa Wa Mawlaanaa Muhammadiw Wa 'Alaa Aalihi Wa Sahbihi Wa Awliyaa-e-he Wa Walidihish Shaykh Sayyid Abdul Qaadir el Jilaani, Wa Walidihish Shaykh Sayyid Mubaarik 'Ali Shah Jilaani Ajma'een. Bi Rahmatika Yaa Arhamar Rahimeem.

This collection of Isnaads for Dua's and Darood is taken from a booklet in Urdu entitled ' Ganjeena Akbaari' published Kutub Khaana ' Ishaatul Islaam. These Daroods and Du'as may also be found in the well known book 'Faqri Majmu'a Wazaa'eef' as well as in the books 'Yazdah Surah Shaeef', and 'Majmu'a Wazaa'eef'. The Isnaads found in this booklet [presently in your hands] are English renderings of isnaads found in Ganjeena Akbaari although Isnaads for these Dua's and Daroods are also found in the above cited works as well some what in greater detail. The renderings were done by Mr. Jawhar Jafri of New Port News Virginia.

Many of the Dua's and Daroods have medicinal usages and as such the editor is not qualified to give permission for their use. Those wishing to benefit from the medicinal aspects or to use them as a Ta'weez must seek permission from a competent Shaykh whom Allahu ta 'ala has given permission to let flow the Shifaa [healing] and protective [Ta'weez] powers of these various Dua's and Daroods. Be aware that using various Dua's and Names of Allahu ta 'ala [Asmaa ul Husnaa] without the expert guidance of a Qualified Doctor of the Heart [qalb] is tantamount to prescribing medicine for oneself without knowing which medicine to choose for the illness. It is generally known by all those whom Allahu ta 'ala has given hikmah that only qualified physicians know how to heal. If one were suffering from a physical malady such as heart disease or cancer one would go to a physician who specializes in healing those maladies bi ithnillah [with Allahu ta 'ala's permission].

We pray that Allahu ta 'ala accept the efforts of the editor and illuminate the blessed face of El Imam Shaykh Muhyideen Sayyid Mubaarik 'Ali Shah Jilaani Hashimi our Perfect Mursheed who first introduced us to these various Daroods and Dua's at the beginning of the 15th century Hijra. These Dua's and Daroods have served to heal many of our illnesses and have brought comfort to our hearts and homes. Hazrat Shaykh also made available to us audio cassettes of several of these Daroods and Dua's by which many were healed and were able to learn these Dua's. Our children began to recite these Dua's and Daroods and our hearts soared.

We pray that all those who were given permission to recite these Dua's will continue to recite. Those who have given up reciting should once again go back to reciting [taking the medicine]. We ask Allah Subhaana Hoo to send the Thawaab [Esaale Sawaab] of this booklet on the souls of Sayyidina Rasuli Akram Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim and Ahli Bayt Ridhwaan Allahu ta 'ala alaihim aj'maeen and all those who have been fortunate enough to have gone forth to meet their Rabb in the Path Fee Sabee lillah and in the suhbah [companionship] of our Blessed Shaykh, Ameen.

Darood Taj

There are limitless benefits for this Blessed Darood Sharif [ Salaat 'alan Nabi Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim] and they cannot all be written out in this short booklet. A few are mentioned.

If some one wants to see Sayyidina Rasuli Akram Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim, then at the height of the month on Yawmul Jumu'ah [Friday] after salaatul Ishaa having performed wudhu and putting on Attar he should recite this Darood Taj seventy [70] times and sleep after that. If he does this for eleven [11] nights, Inshaa Allahu ta 'ala he will see Rasulullah Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim.

For clearing his heart, he should recite this Darood Taj after Salaatul Fajr seven times, and again, three times after Salaatul Asr and Salaatul 'Ishaa respectively. For repelling the Magic of Jinn and the Shayateen, and to be safe from an epidemic and any other diseases, he recites it eleven times.

For being safe from enemies and the Hasid [jealousy] of the Haasideen and the oppression of oppressive rulers, and to be rid of sadness and grief, he should recite this Darood Taj for forty [40] nights after Salaatul 'Ishaa forty one [41] times.

Darood Lakhi

Hazrat Sultan Mahmood al Ghaznawi Rahmatullah alaih, used to recite as a wazeefah [ma'moolaat] with pure intentions and a lot of love this Darood one lakh times. Because of reading this long Darood one hundred thousand times, the whole day would go by and he wouldn't have much time for the administration of government. One night he saw Sayyidina Rasuli Akram Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim, who informed Hazrat Sultan Mahmood Rahmatullah alaih that the Ummat was is need of his work and the administration of government is dependent on Hazrat Sultan Mahmood al Ghaznawi. Rasuli Akram Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim then informed the Sultan that if he recites this Darood Sharif after Salaatul Fajr once, he will receive the thawaab of having recited it one lakh times and that with the barakah of this Darood he will have lots of love for Rasuli Akram Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim, and if he recites it more than once he will get the thawab of one lakh [ one hundred thousand ] times each time he does so.

Hazrat Sultan Mahmood al Ghaznawi Rahmatullah alaih, because of this order of Sayyidina Rasuli Akram Sall Allahu alaihi wa Sallim recited this Darood once thereafter. He said to all the people based on this riwayah, that anyone from among the Ummati Muhammadi who recites it once will receive the thawaab of having recited this blessed Darood Lakhi one hundred thousand times!
